Fullstack Developer

electricityMap is hiring a fullstack developer to help us accelerate the transition of the energy system towards a zero-carbon future.

Our mission is to organise the world’s electricity data to drive tangible reductions in carbon emissions. electricityMap started as a popular open-source project 5 years ago and is now used every day by citizens, companies, universities, NGOs, and policy makers around the world to understand and reduce the climate impact of electricity.

You will be joining a fun, international and inclusive team in our mission to tackle climate change – while simultaneously building your professional experience in the rapidly growing industry of climate tech.

The role is full-time and the team works out of our office in Copenhagen, Denmark.

About the role

In your role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to our entire stack (node.js, Python, React). We’re a team that values autonomy, so you’ll be owning a lot of your own work and initiatives, but we will be there to support you!

As part of our cross-functional team you will:

  • Play a key role in shaping the electricityMap platform, our apps and the features we’re building
  • Design and develop frontend and backend applications using TypeScript, React, node.js, Python, PostgreSQL
  • Work together with our open source community (a lot of our code is open source)
  • Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with interesting challenges
  • Enjoy our 2 weekly meeting-free days where you work from where it suits you. We believe in deep work and strive to create an environment where everyone is empowered to do their best, most focused work
  • Collaborating with other software engineers, data scientists, designers and industry experts to ensure that electricityMap delivers value
  • As a member of a small but growing team, you’ll have the opportunity to be in the driver’s seat, actively shaping your role as we grow together.

About you

We’re looking for a purpose-driven and empathetic fullstack developer who is comfortable with autonomy and tackling challenging problems that will help the world understand and reduce its emissions.

Your personality and your hunger to learn means more than years of experience. Even if you don’t fulfill all the skills listed below, do apply!

As the ideal future teammate, you

  • Experience with JavaScript, React and/or Python
  • Thrive in cross-functional teams. We build the best solutions when we collaborate closely
  • Passion for delivering great user experiences
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • You are located, or able to relocate to Copenhagen, Denmark (note that we will not consider remote applications for this position)

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We can’t wait to hear from you!

electricityMap is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You are welcome at electricityMap for who you are, no matter your background or what you look like. We believe that it’s in our differences that we will find the power to solve one of the biggest challenges of our time.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, or age.
